Programs like the Jr. Fire Academy are vital because they build community resilience, teach youth how to handle emergencies calmly, and foster deep respect for EMS and fire personnel. While these young participants learned about emergency skills and how first responders operate, they also learned about the job of a crisis response therapy dog and how they absorb the heavy energy in a room so humans don’t have to carry it entirely alone.
