What To Expect During A Visit

At Crisis Canine Corps, our goal is to provide a seamless experience that prioritizes the well-being of those we serve.
Here is how we bring comfort, calm, and care to every visit:

1. Trained Professional Teams

Every visit is conducted by a trained crisis canine therapy dog and handler. Our teams are skilled at assessing their surroundings to ensure every interaction is safe, respectful, and effective.

You can expect a team that is:

  • Identifiable: Handlers and canines will wear official Crisis Canine Corps gear

  • Prepared: Canines are groomed, healthy, and up-to-date on all vaccinations

2. A "Paws-On" Experience (Comfort)

Our canines are trained to be petted, hugged (where appropriate), and leaned on.

  • Engagement: The canine may rest at your feet or lean their body weight against you to provide a sense of security and comfort through physical contact like a “hug”

  • No Pressure: We never force interaction. If someone prefers to just watch from a distance, that is perfectly okay

3. A Steady Anchor (Calm)

In a chaotic environment, our canines act as a "social bridge".

  • Stress Reduction: Science shows that petting a dog lowers cortisol and blood pressure

  • A Quiet Ear: Sometimes the best support is a non-judgmental listener who doesn't need words to understand

4. Safety & Respect (Care)

We prioritize the safety of both the people and the pups.

  • Handling: All canines remain under the handler’s control at all times

  • Sensitivity: Our handlers are trained to read the room and will step back if a break is needed or if someone is uncomfortable with the dogs

5. Privacy & Confidentiality

At Crisis Canine Corps, we understand the sensitive nature and the privacy and dignity of those we serve are our top priority.

We love sharing the "Comfort, Calm, Care" mission with our community, but never at the expense of your privacy.

We will never take or post photos/videos during a visit without approval from the individual. We prioritize the mental well-being so we respect the right of anyone who declines being photographed.

Note to Organizers: As a 501(c)(3) non-profit, our visits are made possible by donations. We do not charge a fee for crisis response visits, as we believe comfort, calm, and care should be accessible to everyone in their time of need. (EIN# 41-4101154)
